You may have seen headlines about a "tumble dryer ban," but here is what the upcoming regulations actually mean for your home. From 19th January 2027, new minimum energy-efficiency standards mean standard vented and conventional condenser dryers will no longer be manufactured for the Great Britain market.
What you need to know:
- Existing machines are safe: The regulations only affect new product sales. You can continue to own, use, and repair your current tumble dryer indefinitely.
- Washer-dryers are excluded: Standalone tumble dryers are covered by the new rules, but washer-dryers are specifically exempt.
- The Garage Factor: Heat pump dryers rely on ambient room temperature to operate efficiently and are not ideal for unheated garages or outhouses. If your dryer lives in a cold space, a traditional vented or condenser model remains your best choice.
If you prefer faster cycle times, lower initial purchase costs, or need a reliable machine for your garage, explore our remaining in-stock conventional models below while supplies last.
